A WOMAN’S GUIDE ON BRIDAL GLOVES
Definitely a women’s accessory, bridal gloves is primarily used to be one of the main highlights in a bride’s wedding dress. Specifically designed for a bride’s wedding day, bridal gloves are made more exquisite and delicate to match this very special occasion. Types of bridal gloves vary in length, color, and even the type of material used specifically customized to match the whole ensemble.
In terms of length, bridal gloves may be as short as to accommodate only up to the wrist and some are sewn long to reach half way between the elbow and shoulder area. At present, there exist four types of glove lengths
1. Opera gloves, which reach more than an inch above the elbow and is well advised to be paired with sleeveless dress;
2. Elbow gloves or those that end at or exactly an inch above it;
3. Gauntlet gloves are characterized by their loose fit and length to extend up to the elbow, and
4. Wrist gloves, having to extend an inch or two above a woman’s wrist.
Most and traditional bridal gloves would vary according to this type. However, fingerless gloves are used to provide this tradition with a modern look. Though designed with a more delicate material, fingerless bridal gloves are shaped as an upside down V secured using a fabric or even a soft and delicate metal that would fit in the bride’s middle finger. Fingerless gloves are designed with convenience in a designer’s mind as it allows the bride to dine at the reception or her groom to easily slip the wedding run without having to remove the gloves from her hand.
