BANDANNA AS A MUST FASHION ACCESSORY
One of the fashion accessories that had reached its height of potentiality during the glamour of the old Hollywood in the 1950s is bandanna. Also know as bandana, this type of accessory is worn as a headpiece and made from a large piece of cloth, either square or triangle in shape, and is produced with the boldest of print and colors. Bandanna is often printed not with dark colors to provide contrasts the hair of the wearer. However, as fashion accommodates most occasion there is, bandanna had been set in black color to provide the mourner an option to hold one’s hair in place, taking the place of expensive head veil made of lace.
The word “bandanna” comes from the word “bandhana”, a Hindi word which means “to tie”. Bandanna is usually made in cotton and is printed with paisley though a hundred of varieties are provided for in the market. Becoming more and more popular is the silk-type of Bandanna with bolder patterns. This type of accessory had been famous and favorites among women as it had combined both style and practicality. Bandanna is advantageous for women who work outdoors such as in gardening and in more hot conditions. For this purpose, bandanna can either be worn around the neck and can be raised to cover noses to prevent inhalation of foreign and irritant objects or, if worn around the head, can be made to prevent and even wipe off perspiration from the head. Practical purposes aside, most people wear bandanna as a fashion statement in remembrance of the old Hollywood glamour that inspires polish and kept look.
